A member of the Isle of Man's House of Keys, North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson, is calling on the Manx government to put measures in place for a one-off non-working public holiday on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the date of the upcoming Isle of Man's general election.

In a similar vein, recently (04-Mar-2011), Jersey States Deputy, Geoff Southern, proposed that, Wednesday, October 19, 2011, the date of the next Jersey general election be declared a one-off public holiday.
