Kenya Declares August 31 Idd Public Holiday

The Kenyan Government's Head of the Civil Service, Francis Muthaura, has announced that the date of the non-working public holiday for the upcoming Idd-Ul-Fitr (End of Ramadan) would be Wednesday, August 31, 2011.

The declaration of Wednesday, August 31, 2011, as the date of the upcoming End of Ramadan non-working public holiday was made through its gazetting in the Gazette Notice Vol CXIII - 81 No. 9861.

This is the third year in a row (2010-09-08 and 2009-09-11) that Kenya declares its End of Ramadan public holiday one day later than most other Muslim countries.
