Kuwait's Civil Service commission has confirmed that Thursday, February 17, 2011, would be a non-working public holiday on the occasion of the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad.
This confirms last month's (2011-01-22) CSC circular declaring Thursday, February 17, 2011, as the date of the public holiday on the occasion of the upcoming Prophet's Birthday. That communiqué pointed-out that "the birthday is actually on February 15, but the Cabinet decided to postpone the holiday by two days", a practice that is customary in Kuwait, but which has in the past caused confusion as well as resentment (2008-03-26).
