Madagascar's Minister of Communications, Rahajason Harry Laurent, has issued a decree declaring Monday, October 31, 2011, as a paid one-off bridge public holiday throughout Madagascar (journée déclarée fériée, chômée et payée sur tout le territoire de la République).

The aforementioned Décret n°2011-652 thus creates a 4-day public holiday when combined with the previous weekend and the annual All Saints' Day public holiday on Tuesday, November 1, 2011.

A similar bridge public holiday was declared in 2005 in Madagascar (2005-10-25).

This year's official list of Madagascar public holidays (2011-01-15), as was the case last year (2010-01-20), did not include, or even refer to, any one-off bridge public holiday, contrary to what was done in the preceding years (2009-01-13, 2008-01-16 and 2007-01-09).
