The government of Nepal declared Sunday, April 3, 2011, a public holiday, in the Kathmandu Valley (ie. the Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur districts) and all government offices for the Ghodejatra festival.

This is the third consecutive year (14-Mar-2010 and 25-Mar-2009) that the Ghodejatra festival is declared a public holiday at the last minute, despite not being on the official list of Nepalese public holidays released annually in March.
