The three mayors in New Zealand's Southland Province have announced that from 2012 onward, the Southland Anniversary Day regional public holiday would henceforth be observed on Easter Tuesday.
One of the aforementioned mayors, Gore District Mayor, Tracy Hicks, is reported to have commented that observing the Southland Anniversary Day regional public holiday on Easter Tuesday was the obvious choice as so many organizations are already using Easter Tuesday as Anniversary Day anyway.
The current Southland Anniversary Day is officially listed as occurring in January.
