Nicaragua's Minister of Labour, Jeannette Chávez Gómez, has announced that Monday, May 30, 2011, would be a fully-paid public holiday (día de asueto con goce de salario) for women in the public sector who have children on account of the upcoming Día de la Madre Nicaragüense.

Last year (2010-05-29), MITRAB had announced that Monday, May 31, 2010, would be a compensatory public sector holiday ("los trabajadores del estado tendrán el lunes 31 de mayo como asueto con goce de Salario, para compensar el día domingo 30 de Mayo") to compensate this public holiday falling on a Sunday.
