Nigeria Declares Abia Public Holiday Tomorrow

The Commissioner for Information of Nigeria's State of Abia, Anthony Agbazuere, has announced that the State government has declared tomorrow, Friday, January 21, 2011, as a one-off state public holiday, to enable workers to register as voters.

In related news, the government of Nigeria's State of Enugu recently (16-Jan-2011) declared a 3-day statewide public holidays, from Monday to Wednesday, January 17-19, 2011, inclusively, also to "to enable the people of the state participate actively in the ongoing Voters' Registration exercise".

Similar state public holidays are common in Nigeria (21-Oct-2010 and 08-Oct-2010).
