Omani authorities have announced the dates of the upcoming Eid al Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) non-working public holidays for the private sector, the public sector, and the banking and financial sectors of Oman for the calendar year 2011.
As per a decision by Oman's Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud al Busaidy, the Eid al Adha public sector holidays for employees at ministries, public authorities and other government departments will run from Saturday, November 5, to Wednesday, November 9, 2011, inclusively. However, as the Omani public sector weekends are Thursdays and Fridays, this means that work in the Omani public sector will only resume on Satuday, November 12, 2011. Such week long extensions of the Eid public sector holidays are common in Oman (2011-08-24, 2010-09-06 and 2009-09-17).
In a separate announcement, Oman's Minister of Manpower, Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, issued a ministerial decision stating that the upcoming private sector, non-working, Eid al Adha public holidays will run from Saturday, November 5, until Tuesday, November 8, 2011, inclusively.
Finally, the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has announced bank holidays for all the banks operating in the Sultanate of Oman from Sunday, November 6, to Wednesday, November 9, 2011, inclusively.
