Paraguay Declares April 19 Public Holiday

Source: La Nación (Asunción)

Paraguayan President, Fernando Lugo, has issued a decree declaring a one-off non-working public holiday on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, to coincide with the current anti-Dengue drive ("jornada nacional de lucha contra el dengue").

At a later press conference, President Lugo specified that the aforementioned one-off non-working public holiday on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, was for all sectors of the economy, both public and private ("el asueto es para todos, es decir para instituciones públicas y privadas").

The clarification came in response to questions from the press as to whether the April 19 public holiday would be only for the public sector as has often been the case in the past (2010-12-23 and 2010-12-07).
