The government of Peru has issued an executive order (Decreto Supremo No. 099-2011-PCM) declaring 8 additional public sector holidays in Peru for the calendar year 2012.
The aforementioned decree, issued by the Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros, considers these extra days to be non-working public holidays to stimulate internal tourism ("con el fin de fomentar el desarrollo del turismo interno y dinamizar las economías locales") to be recuperated ("las horas dejadas de trabajar en los días no laborables serán compensadas en la semana posterior al día no laborable"), as was done in past years (2011-03-06, 2010-02-17, 2008-12-15, 2008-02-08 and 2006-09-15).
