Philippines' Presidential Executive Secretary, Paquito Ochoa Jr., has signed Proclamation 175, declaring Friday, June 24, 2011, as an official, non-working, public holiday in the city of Manila (the political and economic capital of the Philippines).
A separate announcement from Malacañang (the Presidential Palace) re-affirmed the recent decision (2011-06-05) not to move the upcoming June 12, Independence Day, public holiday to Monday, June 13, 2011, but it did confirm that Monday, June 20, 2011, would be a one-off non-working public holiday, as had been announced earlier this year (2011-04-29).
