Philippines' President, Benigno Aquino III, has issued Proclamation No. 150 which finally declares Saturday, April 23, 2011, as a non-working public holiday throughout the Philippines.

Last weekend (2011-04-16), Philippines deputy presidential spokesperson, Abigail Valte, had announced that a proposal had been sent to the Office of the Executive Secretary to declare Black Saturday, April 23, 2011, a national non-working public holiday in the Philippines.

Recall that Saturday, April 23, 2011, is sandwiched between 2 dates that were declared official public holidays, late last year (2010-12-20), and Sunday, the weekly day of rest. in the Philippines.
