Puerto Rico's Governor, Luis Fortuño, has announced that the upcoming Maundy Thursday, on April 21, 2011, would be a one-off public sector holiday.

Although the aforementioned public holiday was not included in the "Memorando Especial Núm. 11-2010", which lists the public sector holidays for the year 2011, and was released last spring (2010-04-05) by the public sector's human resources department of the government of Puerto Rico (ORHELA), similar one-off public sector holidays have been declared in the past in Puerto Rico (2008-12-16 and 2008-11-24).
