Samoan Calls To Restore ANZAC Public Holiday

Source: Radio New Zealand International (Apia)

The President of Samoa's Returned Services Association has publicly appealed to the Samoan Prime Minister to reinstate the ANZAC Day holiday.

The ANZAC Day public holiday was removed from the list of official Samoan public holidays a few years ago (2008-01-29 and 2007-12-20).

Contrary to the aforementioned RNZI report, it was the August Labor Day public holiday that was canceled in 2005, when the government of Samoa added Fathers' Day as one of Samoa's official public holidays, as part of a holiday tryptic which also includes Mothers' Day and Children's Sunday (2004-12-30).
