The spokesperson for the Khalife Général des Mourides, Serigne Bassirou Mbacké Abdou Khadre, has issued a statement reminding Senegalese President, Abdoulaye Wade, of his earlier promise to make the Magal de Touba into an annual non-working public holiday in Sénégal.

Earlier this year (2011-01-22), Senegalese President, Abdoulaye Wade, had announced that he would consult with the Prime Minister, Souleymane Ndéné Ndiaye, on the best way to draft a law to finally make the Magal de Touba an annual public holiday in Sénégal.

President Wade had already made a similar promise 2 years ago (2009-11-26).

The next Magal de Touba is expected to occur on January 12, 2012.
