The Consejo de Gobierno of the regional government of Spain's autonomous region of las Islas Canarias, has announced the official list of 2012 regional public holidays (calendario laboral) in the Canaries Islands.
The Calendario laboral de la comunidad para 2012 contains all the nationwide Spanish public holidays and, to these, adds the May 30 "Día de Canarias" but no public holiday on Monday, January 2, 2012, to compensate the fact that, in 2012, New Year's Day falls on a Sunday, as other Spanish regions have done (2011-05-27, 2011-05-26 and 2011-04-27).
In addition, the announcement contains the dates of the 2012 additional municipal public holidays specific to each of the individual islands that make up the Canaries: El Hierro (Nuestra Señora de los Reyes on September 24), Fuerteventura (Nuestra Señora de la Peña on September 21), Gran Canaria (Nuestra Señora del Pino on September 8), La Gomera (Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe on October 8), Lanzarote (Nuestra Señora de los Volcanes on September 15), La Palma (San Miguel Arcángel on September 29), and Tenerife (Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria on February 2).
Update: The aforementioned announcement was eventually gazetted on August 16, 2011, in the BOC Nº 160 as the "DECRETO 256/2011, de 28 de julio, por el que se determina el calendario de fiestas laborales de la Comunidad Autónoma de Canarias para el año 2012, y se abre plazo para fijar las fiestas locales (BOC-A-2011-160-4547)".
