The Tongan Prime Minister's office in Nuku'alofa has announced that King George Tupou V's official birthday will be celebrated with a public holiday on Monday, August 1, 2011.

The aforementioned announcement is in line with Tonga's "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" (Act No. 10 of 2010) which was signed into law last summer (19-May-2010).
