Ecuador's Presidency has confirmed that the upcoming, October 9th, Guayaquil Independence Day, public holiday would be moved to Friday, October 12, 2012.
The aforementioned announcement is in line with last spring's (04-May-2012) Decreto 1162 which specified the dates of Ecuador's non-working public holidays for 2012-2015, with most public holidays' day off moving to the nearest weekend, as per the 2003 "Ley Orgánica de Servicio Civil y Carrera Administrativa y de Unificación y Homologación de las Remuneraciones del Sector Público" (04-Dec-2003).
