The government of Gabon has announced that Saturday, May 5, 2012, would be a regional non-working public holiday (chômée, payée et récupérable) to coincide with the upcoming legislative and senatorial by-elections.
As per the aforementioned announcement, Saturday, May 5, 2012, will be a "journée de samedi est déclarée chômée, payée et récupérable dans toutes ces circonscriptions".
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the 2004 amendments (2004-05-26) to Gabon's public holidays legislation (the "Décret, n°000484/PR/MTE du 26 mai 2004, portant modification de l'article 2 du décret n°000727/PR/MTEFP du 2 Juin 1998").
