Ghana's Minister of the Interior, William K. Aboah, has declared Friday, December 7, 2012, as a non-working public holiday in Ghana on account of the annual Farmers Day annual public holiday.
The aforementioned Friday, November 2, 2012, date corresponds to the date of this year's elections, and as such the actual celebrations corresponding to the 2012 Farmers Day were observed earlier this month, although care was taken at the time (2011-11-28) to point out that "the statutory Farmers Day holiday, which is Friday December 7, remains the public holiday to be observed".
