The government of Kazakhstan has announced that Monday, December 3, 2012, had been declared an additional non-working holiday in Kazakhstan on account of the upcoming new "Day of the First President" public holiday.

Late last year (2011-12-15), a new annual non-working public holiday was declared to be observed on December 1st and to commemorate the date in 1991 when Nursultan Nazarbayev was first elected as president of Kazakhstan (he was subsequently re-elected many times, the last time, in 2011, with a comfortable 95.5 percent of the vote).

However, when the government of Kazakhstan initially released (2012-02-17), the official list of non-working public holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan for the calendar year 2012, a day in lieu was not listed on December 3.
