The government of Malaysia's State of Kelantan has declared Sunday, May 20, 2012, as a one-off state public holiday in conjunction with next Saturday's FA Cup final between the Red Warriors and Sime Darby FC.

Football-related state public holidays are not uncommon in Malaysia (2011-11-21, 2011-06-13, 2011-06-11, 2010-12-30, 2010-12-29, 2010-10-30, 2009-11-04,...). Note that the aforementioned May 20, 2012, one-off state public holiday is on the day after the FA Cup Final, "to ensure a safe journey for supporters returning to the state after the game".

The reason for the need to declare a Sunday, non-working, public holiday, is that in 3 of Malaysia's States (Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu), the weekly day of rest is Friday, and that, as such, Sundays are regular working days (2005-06-21).
