The President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has issued a proclamation declaring Thursday, May 3, 2012, as a one-off non-working public holiday to coincide with the date of this year's World Press Freedom Day.
In this particular case, however, it is not clear if this is to be a new annual non-working public holiday in Liberia, as the official announcement by President Sirleaf is slightly ambiguous ("Liberia affirms the significance of World Press Freedom Day and hereby declares, through this Proclamation, and for the first time, the observance of this day").
In related news, the Liberia Labor Congress has suggested new legislation making May 1 a new annual non-working national public holiday.
