Maharashtra Public Holiday February 16

The government of the Indian State of Maharashtra has declared Thursday, February 16, 2012, as a regional public holiday on account of the upcoming general elections.

As per the aforementioned announcement, the Thursday, February 16, 2012, public holiday will be observed in Mumbai. Note that the Mumbai-based stock exchanges have not declared February 16, as a trading holiday.

A similar, one-off, public holiday was also declared on the occasion of preceding state polls (2007-01-29).
