Oman's minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi, has announced a non-working public holiday for all sectors of the Omani economy on Saturday, November 17, 2012.

As per the aforementioned announcement, the non-working public holiday on Saturday, November 17, 2012, will apply to "employees of the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the State's administrative apparatus and the private sector's companies and establishments" on account of the upcoming Hijri New Year 1434.

Note that the Hijri New Year 1434 is set to occur on Thursday, November 15, 2012, but that, as Thursdays and Fridays are the weekly days off in Oman, at least for the public sector, a substitute public holiday was declared on Saturday, November 17, 2012.
