The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that the upcoming 1st of Ramadan would be a bank holiday throughout Pakistan.
The details of the aforementioned announcement, contained in the BPRD Circular Letter No. 17 of 2012, goes on to state that "In case the 1st Ramzan-ul-Mubarak falls on Saturday/Sunday, the next working day i.e. Monday shall be observed as Bank Holiday", a departure from the usual policy of only declaring a day in lieu bank holiday if a bank holiday falls on a Sunday.
As per custom, under similar circumstances (2012-06-25), the aforementioned announcement states that all banks/DFIs/MFBs will remain closed for public dealing on that date.
