Following the recent announcement of the moving of the date of the upcoming birthday of the Prophet non-working public holiday to Sunday, February 5, 2012, the governments of the 4 Pakistani Provinces of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pujab, and Sindh, have declared Saturday, February 4, 2012, as a one-off regional public holiday.
Last week (2012-01-25), following an announcement by the head of Pakistan's Ruyat-e-Hilal (moon sighting) committee, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, the date of the upcoming birthday of the Prophet non-working public holiday, was moved by one day as compared to the date announced in early January (2012-01-15), by Pakistan's Ministry of Interior, in consultation with Karachi's Meteorological Department, as part of the official list of expected dates for public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2012.
