Panama's President, Ricardo Martinelli, has issued a decree (Decreto Ejecutivo 1109, del 28 de diciembre de 2012) which declares Monday, January 7, 2013, as nationwide non-working public holiday in Panama.
As per the aforementioned decree, the upcoming "Día de los Mártires" annual non-working public holiday will be moved from Wednesday, January 9, 2013, to Monday, January 7, 2013, as could have been expected (2012-09-15 and 2007-12-30).
The Monday, January 7, 2013, non-working public holiday will apply to all sector of the economy of Panama ("dispone el cierre en todo el territorio nacional de las oficinas públicas nacionales y municipales, además las oficinas privadas, durante el día 7 de enero de 2013").
In related news, the Bolsa de Valores de Panamá (Panamanian stock market) has announced that the Panamanian financial markets would be closed on Monday, November 11, 2013, as the annual "Grito de Independencia de la Villa de Los Santos" public holiday falls on a Sunday in 2013.
