The government of the Philippines has gazetted the Proclamation No. 459, s. 2012, which had recently been signed by President Benigno Aquino III, and which lists the special and regular non-working public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2013.
The aforementioned announcement of the special and regular non-working public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2013, comes early as has sometimes happened (2009-07-22), although historically, the list of non-working public holidays in the Philippines for the coming year is often released much later (2011-12-01, 2010-12-20, and 2009-01-07).
Proclamation 459 makes copious reference to Republic Act 9492 (2007-07-25) but, in fact, it represents a de facto reversal of most, if not all, of the "holidays economics" provisions of Republic Act 9492, "An Act Rationalizing the Celebration of National Holidays".
Interestingly, and contrary to last year's Proclamation No. 295, s. 2011 there is no mention of last year's new annual public holiday for the Chinese New Year, which had been promised at the beginning of last year (2011-01-12 and 2011-01-03). It is not clear if this is an oversight or is deliberate.
