The Chief Islander of Saint Helena's region of Tristan da Cunha has postponed this year's annual Ratting Day public holiday from its previously-announced date of Friday, April 20, 2012, to Monday, April 23, 2012, due to bad weather.

The Ratting Day public holiday is usually announced on the day before, or even on the morning of the actual public holiday (2011-05-26, 2010-05-21, 2009-06-03, 2008-06-05, 2007-06-18, and 2006-05-11), as the ratting events require cooperative weather.

But this year it was announced a few days in advance (2012-04-16) and had to be postponed due to bad weather as happened in the past (2006-05-11).
