The office of the Mufti de la République de Tunisie has announced that, earlier tonight, it had been able to sight the waxing lunar crescent and therefore that the previously-announced upcoming non-working public holiday throughout Tunisia for the 1434 Hijri Islamic New Year would occur tomorrow, Thursday, November 15, 2012.
Earlier this week (2012-11-12), the office of the Prime Minister of Tunisia had announced that the upcoming non-working public holiday throughout Tunisia for the 1434 Hijri Islamic New Year would occur on either Thursday, November 15, or Friday, November 16, 2012, with the announcement of the official date of the 1434 Hijri Islamic New Year non-working public holiday to be made on Wednesday night, November 14, 2012 (tonight).
As per the Décret n°317-2011 (2011-04-04) there is only one day of public holiday associated with the Hijri New Year in Tunisia.
