The aforementioned announcement extends again (2012-12-21 and 2010-12-16) the practice, begun a few years ago (2008-06-26), of declaring public holidays for each of the "Commemoration Days of All the Departed" feasts of the lord of Armenian Apostolic Church (2012-09-07, 2012-07-06, 2012-04-06, 2010-04-01, 2010-07-09, 2010-08-13, and 2010-09-10).

In addition, 4 years ago (2009-12-05), the government of Armenia amended the "Law on Armenian Holidays and Memory Days", adding 7 non-working public holidays, around the time of Christmas.
