Bangladesh's National Moon Sighting Committee and Religious Affairs Committee has announced that the moon of the month of Shaban had not been sighted in Bangladesh's sky yesterday and therefore that the Shab-e-Barat (night of fortune and forgiveness) would be observed on Monday, June 24, 2013.
Note that the aforementioned announcement is in line with the official list of 2013 non-working public holidays in Bangladesh, as contained in the DFIM Circular Letter of the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (2012-11-30), as the non-working public holiday related to the Shab-e-Barat is observed on the following day in Bangladesh.
In related news, the Government of Bangladesh has declared Saturday, June 15, 2013, as a regional non-working public holiday in the 4 cities where Municipal Corporation Polls will be held on that same day.
