The Election Commission of Bhutan has issued a communiqué reminding the general public that Tuesday, April 23, 2013, is the date of the upcoming National Council Elections 2013, and as such had been declared a one-off additional non-working public holiday in Bhutan.
The aforementioned declaration of Tuesday, April 23, 2013, as a one-off additional non-working public holiday is in addition to the official list of national and regional non-working public holidays in Bhutan for the calendar year 2013, released last fall (2012-10-12) by the Royal Civil Service Commission of the Government of Bhutan.
Bhutan's land borders will be closed for 24 hours over the election period.
