The government of Chad has declared Friday, July 5, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Chad ("jour chômé et payé") to mark the arrest and inculpation of former president of Chad, Hissène Habré.

Chad does, on occasion, declare one-off non-working public holidays (2013-05-12, 2011-08-06, 2011-05-04 and 2009-12-31), but not as frequently as other neighboring countries.
