Colombia October 12 Public holiday Clarification

The government of Colombia has issued a reminder that, as per the current legislation regulating non-working public holidays in Colombia, the upcoming Día de la Raza on Saturday, October 12, 2013, will be a regular working day.

As per the so-called Emiliani Law (Ley 51 de 1983 (Diciembre 6), "Por la cual se traslada el descanso remunerado de algunos días festivos") most (but not all) public holidays in Colombia move to the next Monday whenever the official date occurs on a day other than a Monday, so as not to break the work weeks in half.
