Ecuador's Ministry of Tourism (Ministerio de Turismo) has issued a communique re-confirming that the upcoming May 24, Batalla de Pichincha de 1822, is a compulsory non-working public holiday in Ecuador ("esta jornada de descanso no será recuperada").
Late last month (25-Apr-2013), Ecuador's Presidency had already confirmed the list and dates of the upcoming, May 2013, non-working public holidays in Ecuador.
These aforementioned announcements are in line with last year's Decreto 1162, which was released (04-May-2012), then amended (21-Jan-2013), by Ecuador's Presidency, and specifies the dates of Ecuador's non-working public holidays for the calendar years 2013, 2014, and 2015.
