The Guatemalan Minister of Labour, Carlos Contreras, has announced that Monday, July 1st, 2013, had been declared a one-off non-working public sector holiday in Guatemala on account of the upcoming Army Day public holiday (Día del Ejército), which falls on a Sunday this year.
As per the aforementioned announcement, the declaration of Monday, July 1st, 2013, as a non-working public holiday in Guatemala does not apply to the private sector ("Para el resto de la población el asueto del Día del Ejército no se corree para el día lunes, ya que según la Ley que promueve el turismo interno al caer en día domingo, este no se modifica.") who are covered by the law 42-2010, passed 3 years ago (2010-11-16, 2010-05-13, and 2009-01-21).
