The government of Guyana has announced that the upcoming Youmun Nabi, birth anniversary of the Prophet, public holiday, would be observed as a non-working public holiday on Thursday, January 24, 2013.

The aforementioned announcement comes shortly after the announcement by Guyana's Central Islamic Organisation (CIOG.) that the Muslim month of Rabiul-Awal had begun, and is in line with the dates of the annual non-working public holidays in Guyana for the calendar year 2013, as announced by the Guyana Government Information Agency, earlier this month (2013-01-07).

Often (2012-02-01, 2011-02-14, 2010-02-18, 2009-03-01, 2007-03-22, 2006-04-01 and 2005-04-12), but not this year, the date announced in Guyana for the birth anniversary of the Prophet public holiday, is one day later than in the Middle East.
