The Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation has approved the declaration of a national non-working public holiday in Israel, to coincide with a yet-to-be-announced "land for peace" referendum.
A few years ago (2008-09-05), after the House and Law committees of the Knesset (Israel's Parliament) had approved a nationwide public holiday in the event of a "land for peace" national referendum, it was then rejected (2008-09-08) by the Knesset's Joint House and Law Commission, "due to the high costs for the Israeli economy".
