Israeli Bank Holiday January 22

(Posted on Sunday, January 6, 2013)

The Bank of Israel has issued a press release announcing that Tuesday, January 22, 2013, would also be a bank holiday in Israel (January 22, 2013, will not be considered a business day in the banking system).

Late last month (18-Dec-2012), Israel's Central Elections Committee had issued a statement confirming that Tuesday, January 22, 2013, the date of the upcoming elections to the 19th Knesset, would be a non-working public holiday in Israel.

As per Article 10 of the Knesset law, election days are still public holidays in Israel (27-Jan-2009), despite attempts to the contrary by the Speaker of the Knesset, Dalia Itzik, a few years ago (16-Nov-2008).
