Libya's ruling National Transitional Council has announced that Tuesday, December 24, 2013, would be a non-working public holiday throughout Libya to be observed as the annual Libyan public holiday commemorating the 62nd anniversary of Libya's independence from Italian rule.

The aforementioned announcement is in line with the Libyan National Transitional Council overhaul of the official list of national non-working public holidays in Libya, announced early last year (2012-01-08) and the declaration the previous year (2011-12-22).
