The Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia's Federal Government has announced that, beginning in 2014, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya, would observe Nuzul Al-Quran as an annual non-working public holiday.

The aforementioned announcement went on to announce that Monday, February 3, 2014, had been declared as a substitute public holiday in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya, to compensate the fact that, in 2014, the Federal Territory Day public holiday would coincide with the annual Malaysian public holiday for the second day of the Chinese New Year.

Five years ago (20-Jan-2008), Malaysia's Government had declared Thaipusam, as new annual public holiday in the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
