At a press conference, earlier this afternoon, Mauritius' Prime Minister, Navin Ramgoolam, has announced that it had declared tomorrow, Monday, April 1, 2013, as an additional one-off non-working public holiday in Mauritius.
According to Prime Minister Ramgoolam, following the recent floods in Mauritius, "We decided to enact this holiday to observe a day of national mourning", which is in addition to the list of official non-working Mauritius public holidays in 2013 that was announced last year (02-Jun-2012).
Last month (14-Feb-2013), due to similar weather conditions, the Bank of Mauritius had declared Wednesday, February 13, 2013, as a one off bank holiday when all banks and financial institutions of Mauritius remained closed.
