New Zealand's Southland District Council has maintained the move of the Southland Anniversary Day regional public holiday to be observed on Easter Tuesday.

A year ago (2011-12-07), the three mayors of New Zealand's Southland Province announced that from 2012 onward, the Southland Anniversary Day regional public holiday would henceforth be observed on Easter Tuesday, with one of the mayors commenting that observing the Southland Anniversary Day regional public holiday on Easter Tuesday was the obvious choice as so many organizations are already using Easter Tuesday as Anniversary Day anyway.

Previously, the current Southland Anniversary Day was officially listed as occurring in January.
