The Minister of the Interior of the Federal Government of Nigeria, Abba Moro, has announced that the Nigerian Government had declared Tuesday, October 1st, 2013, as a paid non-working public holiday throughout Nigeria on account of Nigeria's upcoming 53rd independence anniversary.

The aforementioned declaration of Tuesday, October 1st, 2013, as a paid non-working public holiday throughout Nigeria is in line with similar announcements over the past years (2012-09-28, 2011-09-26 and 2010-09-23).
