Oman's minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, has announced a non-working public holiday for the employees of the ministries, public authorities and other departments of the State's administrative apparatus, on the occasion of the upcoming annual Hijri New Year 1435.
In a separate announcement, Oman's Minister of Manpower, Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, announced that the 1st of Muharram 1435 AH will be an official holiday for employees at the private sector's companies and establishments.
The Hijri New Year 1435 is set to occur on Monday, November 4, 2013, although the UAE has recently issued a confusing statement on the matter (2013-10-29), but in any event it is not during the Thursdays and Fridays weekly days off in Oman, and therefore a substitute public holiday will not be declared.
