The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sent a letter to the Pakistan Minitry of the Interior asking the government to declare the date of the upcoming parliamentary elections, Saturday, May 11, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Pakistan.

The aforementioned declaration of Saturday, May 11, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Pakistan, if approved, would be in addition to the list of official 2013 non-working public holidays in Pakistan as released by the Ministry of Interior, in consultation with Karachi's Meteorological Department, earlier this year (2013-02-04).

The date of previous elections, both parliamentary and presidential, have on occasion been declared one-off non-working public holiday throughout Pakistan (2008-08-22 and 2002-09-10).
