The Government of Pakistan's Province of Sindh has declared an additional regional non-working public holiday on Friday, May 10, 2013, to "be observed by all the workers in the Province of Sindh" on account of the upcoming national parliamentary elections.
Yesterday (2013-05-07), the Pakistani Federal Ministry of the Interior had announced that the Government of Pakistan had declared Saturday, May 11, 2013, the date of the upcoming parliamentary elections, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Pakistan.
Last month (2013-04-24), the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had sent a letter to the Pakistan Minitry of the Interior asking the government to declare the date of the upcoming parliamentary elections, Saturday, May 11, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Pakistan.
The date of previous elections, both parliamentary and presidential, have on occasion been declared one-off non-working public holiday throughout Pakistan (2008-08-22 and 2002-09-10).
